VinFast Body Shop with 100% automated robotic system
VinFast manufacturing compound includes operating building, electric motorbike factory, automobile factory, electric bus factory, subsidiary industrial park, and R&D Training and Development Institute.
In particular, Body Shop was equipped with a system of 1200 ABB robots and is considered the most automatic and modern production line in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. This is one of the factories with the shortest construction time. It started building on September 2, 2017, and started installing machines from August 2018.
VinFast Body Shop is 100% automated and uses adaptive welding technology to ensure high-quality welding and maximize safe usage. Technology 4.0 is also applied in many different areas such as monitoring, optimizing the production process, using equipment, managing maintenance, flexibly changing with the vehicles.

VinFast has worked with many international corporations such as BMW, Manga Steyr, AVL, FFT, Thyssenkrupp, EBZ, Swiss Group, etc. which are renowned for their prominent technologies and quality. ATTS Vietnam (Autotech), one of the leading automation service providers locally and regionally, has been selected to join the project of commissioning robots (Swiss Group as contractor) and commissioning PLC (as EBZ contractor) at VinFast Body Shop.

From November 2018 to November 2019, Autotech engineers participated in robot and PLC commissioning at four lines of VinFast Body Shop including Side Inner (welding inside cars), Side Outer (welding outside cars), Framing (combining SI, SO with Underbody and performing spot welding), and Finishing (grafting doors and capo then before moving to Paint Shop).
ATTS Vietnam was in charge of robot programming, adjusting, configuring and calibrating, conducting dry-run test, testing, and technically supporting the production process. In addition, PLC commissioning task was implemented, including hardware installation (safety address/ Profinet name/IP/ Festo/ Sick scanner/ Albany, etc.), checking (I/O test, manual test, HMI test, safety check), HMI adjustment, supporting service (running Ghost mode, debugging, dry-run test, cycle time optimization, production support) following S7-1500/FFT Sicar parts standard.

Both the robot commissioning (Swiss Group) and PLC commissioning (EBZ) projects ended well and were successfully handed over to VinFast.
